Volkswagen exhibits the E-Bugster in an Asia premiere at the Auto China show in Beijing – a leaner, meaner, and greener variant of the popular New Beetle. This open-top, two-seater roadster has been designed with 85 kW of power, a 0 to 100 km/h time of 10.8 seconds, with zero emissions yet the sharpest of proportions. |
| 13/04/2012 Volkswagen starts off the year with record delivery figures. Volkswagen delivered 2.16 million vehicles in the first quarter of 2012. This is the highest delivery figures to date, surpassing the two million mark. Sales were particularly strong in North America, China and Russia, whilst Western Europe remains a difficult market. |

The Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand reported substantial growth, delivering over 1.36 million vehicles for the first quarter of 2012. The record delivery figures came with significant growth in North America and Asia; China proved to be the largest market with 483,400 Volkswagen Passenger Cars being delivered. |

Volkswagen’s city car was voted as “World Car of the Year 2012” by an international panel of 66 top journalists at the New York International Auto Show. Launched recently in December 2011, the up! has already received other accolades from Euro NCAP, iF Design Institute and been awarded the prestigious “2011 Goldene Lenkrad”. |
| 23/03/2012 Volkswagen founds IT academy. IT competencies will be standardised and strengthened across the Volkswagen Group. Through the harnessing of IT skills within the group, employees will also be further trained to better serve customers. The founding of the Group IT Academy is also expected to enhance communication within the Volkswagen family. |
| 23/03/2012 Christian Klingler honoured as “Man of the Year 2011” in France. A panel of 35 French media representatives recognised Christian Klinger for his “extreme precision and pronounced analysis capabilities”, which contributed to the success of the Volkswagen Group and development of French sales partner PGA. Klinger is the second Volkswagen Group manager after CEO Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn to receive this major accolade from French motoring magazine "Le Journal de l’Automobile". |
