Browsers interpret HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) to display Internet website content on your computer. As well as text, the latest browsers can also display graphics, video clips and other data formats, in some cases with the aid of so-called plug-ins, add-ons or viewers. The best-known browsers are Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer. You can download the latest browser versions here. Internet Explorer Firefox Google Chrome Safari Opera 2. Browser settings For optimal viewing of the Volkswagen websites we recommend the following browser settings: Internet Explorer In Internet Explorer, click "Tools" - "Internet Options" and select the "Advanced" tab. In the lower third of the "Advanced" tab, under "Multimedia", tick the "Show pictures" option. Click "Tools"- "Internet Options" and select the "Security" tab. Click "Custom Level" and under "Scripting" - "Active Scripting" choose "Enable". Firefox In Firefox, click the "Tools" - "Options and select the "Content". Check the checkbox next to "Enable JavaScript". Safari In Safari, click "Safari" - "Preferences" and select the "Security". Check the checkbox nex to "Enable JavaScript" Opera 10.10 In Opera 10.10, click "File" - "Settings". Under "Multimedia" choose the "Show Images" option. Under "Page View" select "Author Mode" and "Accept Frames", and enable "Inline Frames". Under "Plug-ins" activate "Java Script". 3. Recommended plug-ins We recommend the following plug-ins to make use of the Volkswagen websites: Acrobat Reader Acrobat Reader enables you to view and print documents such as brochures and tables in Portable Document Format (PDF). Macromedia FlashMacromedia Flash is used to play back animations and reproduce sounds and other Internet effects. The Flash plug-in is integrated into most present-day browsers, and is needed for most of the pages on the Volkswagen websites. Flash version 5.0 is required as a minimum. QuicktimeQuicktime Player is also free, and enables video clips and interactive image sequences to be played back. 4. CookiesSome Volkswagen websites use cookies. Cookies are items of user-related information which are stored on your computer and then retrieved by our Web server the next time you visit our site. They enable us to tailor content more closely to your needs and to provide you with the maximum user-friendliness. Click "Tools" on the menu bar. 2. Click "Internet Options". 3. Select the "Security" tab and click on the "Internet" area, then click "Custom Level". 4. Under "Cookies" choose "Disable". 5. Confirm your setting as prompted. 6. Then reload the Volkswagen website page by clicking the "Refresh" button. To disable cookies in Firefox: 1. Click "Tools" on the menu bar. 2. Click "Options...". 3. Select the "Privacy" tab. 4. Uncheck the checkbox next to "Accept cookies from sites". 5. Click on the "OK" button 6. Then reload the Volkswagen website page by clicking the "Refresh" button. To disable cookies in Google Chrome: 1. Click "Tools button" (spanner icon) on the menu bar. 2. Click "Options". 3. Select "Under the Hood" tab. 4. Under "Cookie settings", click on the dropdown and select "Block all cookies". 5.Click on the 'Close" button 6. Then reload the Volkswagen website page by clicking the "Refresh" button. To disable cookies in Safari: 1. Click "Safari" on the menu bar 2. Click "Preferences". 3. Select the "Security" tab. 4. Under Accept Cookies, click on the radio button next to "Never." 5. Close the "Preferences" box. 6. Then reload the Volkswagen website page by clicking the "Refresh" button. |
