The new Golf GTI E35 | |
The most powerful GTI ever. How do you celebrate the 35th anniversary of an icon? Make it even sportier! The Golf GTI E35 is the most powerful GTI ever with 235 bhp and a torque of 300 Nm, giving you relentless torque in every speed range. Rev its turbocharged 2.0 TSI engine with intercooling and hear the Golf GTI E35 hit all the right notes with the acoustic re-tuning of its sound actuator for an even sportier growl.
Practice makes perfect. Refinement of the Golf GTI never ends and the GTI E35 is the culmination of 35 years of design evolution. Winglets positioned at the front lower outboard areas improve aerodynamics, while a re-designed front bumper, glossy black mirror housings, side sill extensions in body colour and 18-inch "Watkins Glen" alloy wheels set the Edition 35 apart. Also equipped as standard are bi-xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights, an LED-illuminated rear licence plate and smoked LED rear lights. Sparing a thought for passengers who might be unused to all the attention, the GTI E35 also comes with smoked rear windows.
A celebratory touch. The "35" logo on the ergonomic sports seats and special door sill plates, as well as the classic golf ball gear shift grip of the 1st generation GTI pay tribute to the rich heritage of this legendary hot hatch. Red decorative seams on the seats, 3-spoke sport steering wheel, hand brake, gear shift and safety belts give the cockpit a racy feel and the "Vienna" leather trim centre seat panels feature active-breathing microfibres, styled to match the unmistakable honeycomb pattern of the GTI radiator grille.
Driven by efficiency. The Golf GTI E35 carries on the tradition of mating sporty performance with fuel economy, two seemingly contradictory concepts that are perfectly harmonised in the GTI. Its DSG automatic gearbox helps improve efficiency even further (12.5 km/l; CO2 emissions of 185 g/km), making this one of the most fuel-efficient sports cars in its power class.
Engineered for precision. The Golf GTI E35 doesn't just inspire confidence behind the wheel. It tempts you to push the limits. Its XDS electronic differential lock compensates the typical understeer of front-wheel drive vehicles, providing even greater road-holding power and enabling quicker driving round corners and bends. This sure-footedness is coupled with the incredible stopping power of Volkswagen's four extremely durable and strong disc brakes that bring the GTI E35 from 100 km/h to a standstill within just 35 metres. MacPherson suspension with helical springs and telescoping dampers, as well as an innovative rear multi-link suspension further enhance the dynamic handling of this hot hatch.
