For the Volkswagen Group compliance is:
Adherence to legal requirements, internal corporate policies, ethical
principles, and self-imposed values for the protection of the company and its
A company can only be sustainably successful if it acts with integrity, complies with statutory provisions worldwide and stands by its voluntary undertakings and ethical principles. Compliance must be second nature to all Group employees.
The group wide Code of Conduct is basis for all decisions taken in the company and offers guidance for ethical conduct. Other publications of the Volkswagen Group offer further detailed information and advice.
The Code of Conduct is a common set of guidelines for all employees in the Volkswagen Group. It helps in complying with existing rules and regulations and offers guidance, advice and support in everyday work situations and decision-making. The focus is on the responsibility of each individual employee to comply with the rules of ethical conduct.
The Volkswagen whistleblower system is responsible for reports on serious regulatory violations and violations of the law by Group employees. We also value information about possible serious regulatory violations on the basis of concrete evidence from business partners, customers and other third parties.
Complying with statutory regulations and internal rules has top priority at Volkswagen. We can only avoid damage to our company, our employees and business partners if rules and standards are respected. Consequently, misconduct must be recognized swiftly, processed and immediately remedied.
That calls for vigilance on the part of everyone along with a willingness to draw attention to possible Serious Regulatory Violations on the basis of Reasonable Suspicion. We also value information of this nature from business partners, customers and other third parties. Reports to the Whistleblower System can be made at any time and in any language.
The Whistleblower System guarantees the greatest possible protection for whistleblowers and persons implicated. An investigation is only initiated after very careful examination of the facts and reasonable suspicion of a regulatory violation. There will be strict confidentiality and secrecy throughout the investigative process. Information will be reviewed fairly, promptly and in a sensitive manner.
