Coverage overview

Volkswagen's Dent and Scratch Protector covers the costs of repairs up to 4 times on dents and scratches within the coverage period, subject to the terms and conditions outlined in this document.

Coverage period

The Dent and Scratch Protector is covered by a 12-month period or 15,000km, whichever comes first. It is limited to 4 times dent and/or scratch claims. Coverage starts from the delivery date of the new vehicle or the purchase date of the policy, whichever is latest.

In case of optional purchase, there shall be no refund of the premium after the 14-day cancellation period.

Covered costs

Subject to the terms and conditions herein, Volkswagen Singapore will repair or spray, at its discretion and expense of the damages listed in the "Coverage" section.

Coverage

The Dent and Scratch Protector covers up to 12 months or 15,000 km, whichever occurs first, Minor Repair Damage. Minor Repair Damage is an event resulting in accidental damage to your vehicle, which can be described as one of the following:

• Scuffed bumpers — Means damage up to 15 cm in diameter, 3 mm in depth, and occurring on only one (1) body panel.
• Light scratches (such as a “hedge scratch”) — Means a scratch that is visible but not deep enough to be able to feel by touch, to the vehicle body panel. A light scratch should not exceed 15 cm in length and not extended over more than two (2) adjacent body panels.
• Heavy scratches (where you can nick your fingernail on the scratch) — Means a visible scratch to the vehicle body panel not exceeding 15 cm in length and not extended over more than two (2) adjacent body panels, and excludes the front bonnet, the roof and the rear boot.
• Dents up to palm size and not deeper than 3 mm.

Excluding the following damages:

• Dents at the edge of the body panel including front bonnet, rear boot or roof panel.
• Damages on decal, vinyl sticker or any accessories which cannot be avoided during the repair.

Limitations and exclusions

To maintain eligibility for the Dent and Scratch Protector, the following conditions must be met:

• Damages must be reported to Volkswagen Group Singapore Pte Ltd within forty-eight (48) hours of occurrence.
• If the odometer is replaced or becomes defective, a statement of the correct mileage must be documented.

Excluded from the policy are:

• Body shop panel repairs.
• Consequential loss of use or any other consequential loss, penalties for delay or detention, or claims in connection with guarantees of performance or efficiency.
• Damages which fall under other Insurance or Warranty.
• Damages which fall under other Insurance or Warranty — Any defects in workmanship and materials which is claimable under the terms of any other Insurance, Warranty or Manufacturer’s Warranty.

The following vehicles are not eligible for the Dent and Scratch Protector:

• Vehicles used for hire or reward (e.g., taxis, private hire, driving schools, etc.).
• Vehicles owned by contract hire or similar companies.
• Vehicles used in competitions, rallies, or any form of racing.

Volkswagen Singapore reserves the right to determine a vehicle’s ineligibility for Dent and Scratch Protector at its sole discretion if any of the above conditions are not met.

Transferability

The Dent and Scratch Protector is not transferable to a new owner of the covered vehicle or to a different vehicle at any time.
